ALTAR SERVERS

We have a good team of Altar Servers made up of adults and young people. The role of an altar server is to assist the priest at Holy Mass. An altar server arrives at church in good time in order to prepare the church and make prayerful preparation before Mass begins. In order to serve on the altar a young person should be mature enough to understand the responsibility.  The formation includes instruction on the Mass and its parts and their meaning, the various objects used in the liturgy (their names and use), and the various functions of the server during the Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Servers will receive appropriate guidance on maintaining proper decorum and attire when serving Mass and other functions. They will be privileged to serve at the altar when it is felt they understand their duties and are ready to commit to them.
Kevin Slattery and Fr Nixon are responsible for the servers training.
